silly girl!

(love my new iPhone, videos will be aplenty nowadays!)

Crazy crawler!

This time last week, Kaylee wasn't able to do much but scoot around on her belly and flail around like a beached whale. Look at her now!

12 days until Christmas...

15 more days and my first Christmas show

Today was her "school" Christmas show. The babies hung out on the stage in their cribs that was wrapped like a present and they were all dressed as presents. The "show" was the older kids singing. Kaylee really liked listening to them!

Best gift ever! (even if she's not happy about it)

19 days and counting...

Kaylee's first Christmas party!

Oh, and I officially crawled today!!!

Getting moving...

Kaylee has been trying to crawl for weeks now. She would get really close but could never quite get going. It seems as though she has given up on crawling altogether. Now, all she wants to do is stand. She pulls up on anything within her reach! She also seems to think she can walk, as she will lunge forward towards what she wants. I see a lot of bumps and bruises in our near future.

Kaylee's favorite part of the new apartment...

The mirrored closet doors (or any mirror, really)

She even likes giving herself "kisses"

21 days and getting into the spirit!

22 days to go...

Lemons at happy hour!

Despite the face, she really liked them and kept eating them!

(I know this is a day late, but I fell asleep when putting Kaylee to bed and we all know that sleep trumps all whenever possible!)

Countdown to Christmas!!!

No advent calendar for us. Instead we will do a photo countdown to Christmas! Hopefully, this will get me back into the blogging spirit and it will definitely get me excited for Kaylee's first Christmas!

Day 1, 24 to go!

Having a snack...

Wow, I can't believe that my last post was about Halloween!! I'd like to say things are settling down and I can update this more often, but that is far from true.

First off, we are celebrating the first of December with no mortgage payment!!! Woohoo!! The selling the house/moving into a new place has been the center of most of the chaos as of late, but now we are down with it. We can breathe a little easier and the pocketbook will be a little fuller! The challenge of condensing a 4 bedroom house into a 2 bedroom apartment isn't ideal, but we really like our new little home (emphasis on little)!

Kaylee was a trooper through it all! Luckily Grandma Janie was visiting to help watch the munchkin while mommy and daddy packed and moved. The dog, on the other hand, is not enjoying the moving process so much.

Kaylee enjoyed her very first Thanksgiving. She tried a little bit of everything but especially liked the sweet potatoes and the mashed potatoes!!!

Kaylee also has teeth now! Well, little bits of teeth poking through. After only one day of real pain and unhappiness, her two bottom teeth broke through. Last week she wouldn't even let our fingers close to her mouth, but now we can ask her to show us her teeth and she opens her mouth right up!

We are still technically immobile. This is a good thing for the time being. There are way too many boxes of stuff for her to get into. She wants to crawl so badly and gets frustrated when she can't get herself to where she wants to be. Frankly, I'm okay with not having to chase her around just yet!

Halloween

A little out of order but here are some pics from Halloween. I tried not to go crazy with the costumes (even though I wanted to) but I am SUPER excited for next year! This year we went to a friends house for Halloween and enjoyed some pizza and wine before we went trick-or-treating with the "big" kids.

7 months!

Kaylee turned 7 months old two days ago! She is getting to be SO much fun. She is becoming so playful and her laugh just melts my heart!

At 7 months Kaylee...

weighs 20 pounds exactly
is starting to wave
gives "kisses" (even though they are open mouth kisses and VERY slobbery)
is trying REALLY hard to crawl
loves to feed herself
has the most incredible laugh in the world (per her daddy)
has a little bit more hair
is starting to "share"
is obsessed with the dog

Here's some pics of our sweet girl...

I'm a slacker...

Parenthood surely doesn't leave much time for blogging. Now that I am back to work full time, I find myself wanting to spend every waking moment with Kaylee and there always seems to be an endless list of things to do when she is sleeping.

{house}
One of the things that is keeping us extra busy is the fact that we have put our house on the market. We are currently in escrow ::fingers crossed:: and are hoping to close by the end of the month. Being in escrow is nice because we don't have to have the house immaculately clean everyday for showings. There was especially no time for blogging during those days.

{daycare}
As for Kaylee, she is awesome! She is in daycare full time right now. While it's not the ideal situation, it's working out well. I like her teachers and she seems to enjoy the stimulation and being around the other babies. I miss her terrible starting the moment I drop her off but the best part of each day is when I get to pick her and see her smiling face. As soon as she sees me, she smiles and then she cries until I pick her up. ( I think she is slightly impatient, like her mom).

{health}
She had her 6 month well visit (2 weeks late) and is hitting all her milestones and doing great! She weighed in at 18 pounds, 13 ounces. She was battling a cold the week prior and probably lost some weight due to that. She is now 27 1/2 inches. She has grown 6 inches since birth! We have had two whooping cough scares, she ended up being negative both times. Other than having two colds, she has been super healthy!

{milestones}
Kaylee is sitting by herself and desperately trying to crawl. She gets up on her hands and knees, rocks back and forth, lunges forward...then does a face plant. cry, cuddle, repeat. We'll be chasing her around in no time.

{sleep}
We almost have Kaylee sleeping through the night. We had a great thing going and she was starting to sleep 10 hours straight and then she got sick. Now that she is better we are trying to get back in the routine.

{food}
Kaylee is full swing into eating solids and loving every minute of it. We started her on a variety of solids to make sure she didn't have any allergies and now she is starting to eat "real" food. She has had avocado, banana, squash, cheese and chicken. Her most favorite food ever is the silly little "puffs" that dissolve as soon as they get wet. She could eat those for days and gets super excited when I shake the container at her. Her eyes light up and she starts bouncing up and down.

Good thing babies bounce!

because I've fallen with her in my arms twice now! I must say, I am not typically a clumsy person. I don't usually fall for no reason or trip without being able to catch myself...until now apparently. I can't believe I have fallen, to the ground, with this poor kid in my arms! As a mother it is the absolute worst feeling ever! Luckily, she was perfectly fine both times. I guess it is instinctual to sacrifice your own body to protect your baby, because both times I came out bruised up and she escaped without a scratch. Today was the worst though! I was carrying her, along with all her other daycare supplies, and slipped on the wet concrete! I went tumbling down, my shoe went flying, all her stuff fell on the wet ground, and I tumbled into the corner of the concrete pillar, landing on the pillar before hitting the ground. Panic swept through my entire body as we both ended up laying on the ground. Then she started to cry. She must of seen the fear in my eyes and just gotten scared because as soon as I picked her up, she stopped and was happy as can be. UGH! worst feeling ever! So I am battered and bruised, annoyed with the daycare and their stupid, extra slippery sidewalk and anxious to be back with my baby BUT we are all okay and it's a good thing babies bounce!

Kaylee waving

OK, so a week or two ago, Kaylee and I were at a work event and we said bye to someone and she waved. I wrote it off as a fluke. Then her daycare teachers started telling that she is waving (with purpose). I didn't really believe them, so they took a video. In my opinion, the jury is still out on this one. Although her teachers are quite convinced that she can wave and she does it at school all the time. Here's the video, I'm not sure it's very convincing, but cute nonetheless!

it's been awhile...

Sadly, I haven't updated this blog since August! Time is just flying by. The school year started and now I am officially a working mom. It's been about a month since I have been back and I am still adjusting. Kaylee started daycare. While I hate the fact that she has to be cared for by someone else, I do really like our daycare and her teachers. So, I guess it's the best of a not-so-ideal situation. We made it through our first cold and whooping cough scare. All is well in the Bergs household and we are simply trying to enjoy every moment, as it goes by all too fast!

At five and half months Kaylee:

weighs 18 pounds 1 ounce
is sitting by herself for short periods of time
rolling over like crazy
trying to move herself across the room
does a little baby backwards "worm" to move across the room
has started solid foods
loves sweet potatoes and peas
hates green beans and applesauce

first food...

So, based on our doctor's recommendation and Kaylee's insatiable appetite, we decided to slowly begin introducing solids. We started tonight with a organic brown rice cereal mixed with breast milk. We have been counting how many ounces she eats for so long, I guess I had ounces on the brain. I mixed ounces instead of tablespoons of breast milk with the cereal and obviously got a very runny mess. I added more cereal but I still think it was too runny. Oh well, we'll do better next time.

She seemed to enjoy this new (very messy experience). I am pretty sure she got more all over her face and clothes than in her tummy, but it was good practice!

we gave in...

I have heard about "Sophie" FOREVER! I really didn't think it could be that good. I thought it was just the latest fad and was just an overpriced chew toy. After buying tons of other chew toys (I guess she isn't a dog, what are they? teethers??) anyways, after buying a bunch and not finding any that she liked, I gave in and bought Sophie (from Nordie's no less, I didn't even search to find her on sale).

She really is THAT good and Kaylee loved it from the moment we gave it to her. Should have listened to everybody and bought her first. Would have saved myself a few bucks in the long run!

(and Grandma just had to buy her a new fancy headband)

4 month check-up

We had a 4 month well visit a little late. The doc says she is hitting all her milestones and developing very well. She weighed just over 17 pounds and was 25 1/2 inches long. She was off the charts for weight and in the 90th percentile for height. At 4 1/2 months we are packing up all the 3-6 month clothes and moving on to the 6-9/12. She is in size 3 diapers. She has a seemingly insatiable appetite as of late and the doc said that we could/should start solids soon. I was planning on waiting awhile longer but she is hard to keep up with these days. I should add that she weaned herself from breastfeeding about a month ago. So, I am exclusively pumping, which just gives me more to do each day. It is good though because Kaylee is starting daycare soon (boohoo) so at least we won't have any bottle feeding issues.

Here is my cutie, just before she got all her shots:

the face of success...

Here it is:This is my proud little girl right after she managed to finally roll over from back to belly. She has been trying really hard for the past week or so. She managed to crunch and curl her body up into a "C" shape, but couldn't manage to make it all the way over...until today!!! I am sure she is just responding to my cheers of joy, as opposed to being proud of herself, but who cares. One more milestone checked off the list. I probably should keep a video camera/real camera to catch these moments with a little more quality, but for now, blurry iPhone shots will have to do!

Kaylee at 4 months

Kaylee's 4 month "birthday" came and went. Life around here has been getting busier and it has caused me to neglect my blog. I'd like to say that I will get better about updates but I go back to work in two weeks, so I can't make any promises.

At 4 months Kaylee is...
smiling and laughing a lot
rolling from belly to back (when she wants to)
rolling from back to well, her side (she can't quite make it all the way over)
grabbing her feet
"talking" herself to sleep
loves her jumperoo
hates the bumbo
exclusively fed by bottle (still breast milk only)
utterly entertained by the dog
sleeping in her crib (for the first 5 hours or so)
