Halloween

A little out of order but here are some pics from Halloween. I tried not to go crazy with the costumes (even though I wanted to) but I am SUPER excited for next year! This year we went to a friends house for Halloween and enjoyed some pizza and wine before we went trick-or-treating with the "big" kids.

7 months!

Kaylee turned 7 months old two days ago! She is getting to be SO much fun. She is becoming so playful and her laugh just melts my heart!

At 7 months Kaylee...

weighs 20 pounds exactly
is starting to wave
gives "kisses" (even though they are open mouth kisses and VERY slobbery)
is trying REALLY hard to crawl
loves to feed herself
has the most incredible laugh in the world (per her daddy)
has a little bit more hair
is starting to "share"
is obsessed with the dog

Here's some pics of our sweet girl...

I'm a slacker...

Parenthood surely doesn't leave much time for blogging. Now that I am back to work full time, I find myself wanting to spend every waking moment with Kaylee and there always seems to be an endless list of things to do when she is sleeping.

{house}
One of the things that is keeping us extra busy is the fact that we have put our house on the market. We are currently in escrow ::fingers crossed:: and are hoping to close by the end of the month. Being in escrow is nice because we don't have to have the house immaculately clean everyday for showings. There was especially no time for blogging during those days.

{daycare}
As for Kaylee, she is awesome! She is in daycare full time right now. While it's not the ideal situation, it's working out well. I like her teachers and she seems to enjoy the stimulation and being around the other babies. I miss her terrible starting the moment I drop her off but the best part of each day is when I get to pick her and see her smiling face. As soon as she sees me, she smiles and then she cries until I pick her up. ( I think she is slightly impatient, like her mom).

{health}
She had her 6 month well visit (2 weeks late) and is hitting all her milestones and doing great! She weighed in at 18 pounds, 13 ounces. She was battling a cold the week prior and probably lost some weight due to that. She is now 27 1/2 inches. She has grown 6 inches since birth! We have had two whooping cough scares, she ended up being negative both times. Other than having two colds, she has been super healthy!

{milestones}
Kaylee is sitting by herself and desperately trying to crawl. She gets up on her hands and knees, rocks back and forth, lunges forward...then does a face plant. cry, cuddle, repeat. We'll be chasing her around in no time.

{sleep}
We almost have Kaylee sleeping through the night. We had a great thing going and she was starting to sleep 10 hours straight and then she got sick. Now that she is better we are trying to get back in the routine.

{food}
Kaylee is full swing into eating solids and loving every minute of it. We started her on a variety of solids to make sure she didn't have any allergies and now she is starting to eat "real" food. She has had avocado, banana, squash, cheese and chicken. Her most favorite food ever is the silly little "puffs" that dissolve as soon as they get wet. She could eat those for days and gets super excited when I shake the container at her. Her eyes light up and she starts bouncing up and down.

Good thing babies bounce!

because I've fallen with her in my arms twice now! I must say, I am not typically a clumsy person. I don't usually fall for no reason or trip without being able to catch myself...until now apparently. I can't believe I have fallen, to the ground, with this poor kid in my arms! As a mother it is the absolute worst feeling ever! Luckily, she was perfectly fine both times. I guess it is instinctual to sacrifice your own body to protect your baby, because both times I came out bruised up and she escaped without a scratch. Today was the worst though! I was carrying her, along with all her other daycare supplies, and slipped on the wet concrete! I went tumbling down, my shoe went flying, all her stuff fell on the wet ground, and I tumbled into the corner of the concrete pillar, landing on the pillar before hitting the ground. Panic swept through my entire body as we both ended up laying on the ground. Then she started to cry. She must of seen the fear in my eyes and just gotten scared because as soon as I picked her up, she stopped and was happy as can be. UGH! worst feeling ever! So I am battered and bruised, annoyed with the daycare and their stupid, extra slippery sidewalk and anxious to be back with my baby BUT we are all okay and it's a good thing babies bounce!

Kaylee waving

OK, so a week or two ago, Kaylee and I were at a work event and we said bye to someone and she waved. I wrote it off as a fluke. Then her daycare teachers started telling that she is waving (with purpose). I didn't really believe them, so they took a video. In my opinion, the jury is still out on this one. Although her teachers are quite convinced that she can wave and she does it at school all the time. Here's the video, I'm not sure it's very convincing, but cute nonetheless!
