Lesson learned...

So, I started out being an overly prepared mom with a diaper bag overflowing with everything we could possibly need. That got old real quick and I started getting rid of things when I realized I could never find anything because there was so much crap in the bag!

We decided to get out of the house and spend some time walking in a local park. We loaded up the dogs, baby and diaper bag in the car. When we got there, we decided we didn't need the diaper bag (even though we were taking the stroller) and set out. We had all we needed (we thought) diapers, wipes, warm blanket, cool blanket, bottle, pacifier. What more could we need, right?

So about a mile into our walk, Kaylee started to fuss so we fed her, burped her and then "heard" that we needed to change her. Let's just say her outfit could not be salvaged and we were stranded without any clothes!

It was much too cold to leave her in just a diaper, so we made her a baby toga, of course!

When we finally made it back to the car, we found that the diaper bag contained 6 pairs of socks and 3 jackets. No clothes. We had NO clothes in the diaper bag! Baby girl had to go home in a hoodie and a pair of socks. Poor girl!

Needless to say, the diaper bag has been "refilled" and we will not have another episode like today!

Pro pics...

This week we were lucky enough to have a photo shoot with Long Beach photographer, Charla Blue. We were aiming for the "sleepy newborn" look but Kaylee wasn't having anything to do with our plans. She was awake almost the entire shoot and a little fussy at times. Charla did an amazing job. We have only gotten a little taste of what's to come, but we LOVE the shots that were captured so far!

Afterward, Kaylee got to go meet more of her family and her cousin Paxton (maybe 2nd cousin technically) Paxton was more interested in finding a way to get those panda bears off her feet!

First pick...

Of all the "firsts", this is the one we catch on camera:

Baby watching:

Kaylee took her first nap in her crib last week. It was a rather short one, but sleep was had nonetheless. We have a MobiCam which allows us to hook up the video monitor to the tv. So rather than just keep her in the same room to nap, we put her in the other room so we can sit and watch her on tv.

She is definitely smiling!

Our little girl is just smiling away lately. She is making eye contact and smiles at us when we talk to her. Now the fun stuff is really starting. She is finally interacting with us instead of just laying around all day :) She also has found hr "voice" and chooses to express her unhappiness between the hours of 9 and 11 pm. Every day!

The first month...

It has gone by so fast!

1 month!!!

Today little miss Kaylee is one month old! She also had her one month visit to the doctor. She got a clean bill of health, is weighing in at just under 11 1/2 pounds and is 22 1/2 inches long. She is in the 95th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height, which just means we got a big ol' baby girl! She is growing and changing so fast. She is starting to stay awake and alert for much longer periods of time, is noticing things in the world around her and is seeming to smile in response to us.
